            Picture
Kent Solar want you to know as much as is possible about Solar Power and Energy, we understand that you will want to know and learn about how the entire process operates, how efficient it is and how difficult it is to convert to a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) electricity system.

We aren't going to baffle you with science or bamboozle you with statistics and figures, we simply want you to know and understand all off the benefits, and how Solar Power and Energy can make a positive impact on your life.

Is the electricity stored on the property?
Our photovoltaic systems are directly connected to the National Grid, hence, all electricity produced by your own system that is not used is sold back to your energy company. In essence, you become your own energy supplier/provider.

How much roof space is required?
Kent Solar's standard installation will require a roof space of approximately 15m2. We do install smaller and larger systems, however, much depends on how much space you have and of course how much financial resource you wish to invest in the system.
Can Solar Panels be mounted on a flat roof?
Yes, we use specially constructed 'A frames' which the panel is mounted upon that allows the panel to be optimally positioned. These are typically used if you do not have a suitable facing aspect of your roof. Solar panels in general, are sutiable for fitment to any kind of roof, providing the roof is structurally sound, in our experience, the majority of roofs are safe enough to support Solar panels.

Ideally, to ensure the maximum annual energy performance is achieved, your roof should face south at a pitch of 30-40 degrees from the horizontal position. However, East or West facing roofs can deliver up to 85% of the optimal performance.

How do you fit the panels, and how long will it take?
Every installation is carefully and individually assessed by one of our highly trained and qualifed staff. Generally speaking, the process is straight forward, we take every consideration into account, We remove are few roof tiles to allow to fix the panels, and replace before carefully erecting scaffolding to access your roof area. We repair any breakages to any tiles that me be accidentally damaged during the process.

Cable is passed through the roof area to connect to the inverter, this may involve the drilling of small holes, these are fully weatherpoofed. The inverter itself is placed within the property, as close to the Solar Panels as is possible, this help harness and maximise the energy output. Our work on the roof area is now complete.

Inside the property, we simply pass cables from the inverter through to wherever the fuse box is located, we can generallyuse existing electrical routes but occassionally we have to drill new routes. Wherever possible, we try not to have any negative aesthetic effect on the inside of your home. We then connect to the consumer unit, we sometimes find that the consumer unit does not have the capacity to take the new circuit, therefore we have to fit a new consumer unit. This would be at the property owners exspense. That's it, all done. You can then sit back andnejoy all the benefits of natural solar power and start to save and earn money by doing so.

What maintenance do the panels require?
The panels have no moving parts, therefore the need for regular maintenance does not exist.

Do the panels require any cleaning?
Yes, but not in the sense that they require constant attention. The natural effects of rainfall will keep them clean. Every so often, if the panels appear to be soiled then you could consider hosing them down to remove any unwanted surface detritus. We generally say that clean panels ensure maximum efficiency.

So how do I make money on Solar Energy?
Thanks to the government 'Feed-In-Tariff scheme, you are guaranteed to be paid for the electricity you generate. Currently, by installing the Solar Energy panels on your roof and converting to Solar Energy, you will be paid a feed tariff of 41.3p for each unit of energy you generate, AND, you can still use the energy free of charge. For example, if you are currently paying 10p per kWh for yourelectricity, the value ofeach kWh you use from your Solar Energy system is 51.3p. If you don;t use the enrgy, you can sell it back at a rate of 3p per kWh to the grid, in this instance, eachkWh is worth44.3p to you.

What is the actual return I can expect?
On average you can expect a 9% return on your investment. If you invest £15,000 in your Solar Energy system you would be around £1,200 better off per annum. Thats some saving in todays economic climate, especially when you consider that if you put that money into a bank you would currently be fortunate to earn 1% on it.

Furthermore,as soon as you sign up to generate your own energy, you lock into the government Feed-In-Tariff of 41.3p (and that's index linked for 25 years too). That means you will be paid (tax free) 41.3p for every kWh you generate. Did you ever believe that discussing Energy and Power could be so interesting and financially rewarding?

On a more sensible note, long term by installing and converting to Solar Energy you will help to make the world a safer, greener and altogether better place t live for future generations, your children and grandchildren will see and feel the benefits of what we do today. Scietific research indicates that we need to reduce our carbon footprint by 40% by 2020, that's not too far away, and by 80% by 2050. Renewable energy resources and technology are a fundamental necessity if we are to achieve this.
